Question:
What if the object to be viewed is some distance away, will I still be
able to see the image clearly if I use up to for instance 7x
magnification?
Answer:
Not always, it is very important to bare in mind the quality of the
optical device that you are using. If you are using a device with up to 7x
magnification it does not follow that the image will be improved. To
ensure an improved image you will require a device with high image
resolution, for instance 23 lines per mm.
When you have high
magnification and a high image resolution you will see much improved
results over all distances.
Question:
Why do night vision devices always show the image in
green?
Answer:
Because the luminescent viewing screen is coated with a special
composition which creates the green image. In addition the human eye is
able to discriminate complex images more easily when the field of vision
is green.
Question:
What is the main difference between devices manufactured in Russia and the
United States?
Answer:
There are no differences between equipment sold in America and equipment
manufactured in Russia. This particularly applies to first generation and
partly to second-generation equipment. In fact almost all of this type of
equipment is produced in Russia and purchased by American companies and
then sold by them using their own trademarks. Russian companies have not
been very good in promoting their own high quality products preferring
instead for other companies to re-brand their equipment and to sell as
their own.
Russia maintains
World leadership in the production of first generation equipment due to
superior quality and low prices. It is the reason that INDUSTRIAL
TECHNOLOGIES HOUSE are able to offer their equipment at such competitive prices.
Question:
Does INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES HOUSE produce third generation equipment?
Answer:
Yes, but it is very expensive. America, because of its military
development produces third generation and forth generation equipment at
more cost effective levels. But this equipment is only available for
military use and special purpose applications.
Question:
What is the maximum distance that can be clearly observed using night
vision device?
Answer:
Obviously the specification and quality of manufacture will all have an
overall affect on the image resolution.
In general terms the
following will apply.
First generation
- ≈ 300 m,
Second generation - ≈
500 m,
Third generation -
≈ 800 m.
Visibility will be
impaired if the weather is not good such as snow or heavy rain, the
environmental conditions will decrease the effective distance of
observation even when using the IR facility it will not always improve the
vision distance.
Question:
Can you use night vision devices in full darkness?
Answer:
Yes, it is possible. All night vision devices work on the principal of
spectral luminous gain. If there is no source of light, for instance a
cave or garage, you have to use the IR illuminator for the light source.
Most of night vision devices have the IR facility built into the body of
the device, but you can also use a device with a separate IR generating
device with a high power laser output but this is dangerous to the human
eye.
Question:
What device is recommended for general?
Answer:
We can offer several universal devices, as follows:
D-3MK, D-2MVpro and
D-2MS.
D-3MK is a monocular,
D-2MVpro and D-2MS are goggles for attaching to a headpiece.
By changing the lens
on D-2MVpro and D-2MS they are easily converted into binoculars, you may then
choose the lens and magnification that is suitable for your particular
application. This is a very cost effective method of purchasing a night
vision device you can then add the accessories as and when they are
required.
Alternatively you may
wish to purchase a complete set.
The full set of D-3MK
includes the device, changeable lens with magnification 1x and 3x,
headgear for attaching the device, which permits hands free operation,
battery set, a comprehensive users guide and purpose built carrying bag.
Using this set permits you to have a compact and lightweight monocular
with magnification of 1x, which can be assembled, in the field. Also you
can have the 3x magnification monocular and night vision goggles when used
with the headpiece can be used hands free.
Question:
Can you damage the device by exposure to a bright light source?
Answer:
Night vision devices are designed only to operate at night. You must not
remove the lens cover during daylight as damage will occur and will cause
irrevocable damage. It can also happen at night if the device is exposed
to a bright light source such as a searchlight or a vehicle headlight.
To avoid damage to
the user and the device D-2MVpro, D-2MS, D-125, D-211, D-216 of our equipment is protected by a special in
built sensor, which will automatically turn off the device if the unit
detects a bright light source. In second generation devices protection is
a part of intensification tube.
Question:
Can radiation from the IR illuminator be dangerous for the eyesight?
Answer:
All INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES HOUSE equipment complies to agreed national and
international health and safety standards and directives with regard to
the operation of night vision equipment.
Question:
Can radiation from the screen be dangerous for the eyesight?
Answer:
All INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES HOUSE equipment complies to agreed national and
international health and safety standards and directives with regard to
the operation of night vision equipment. Some users with below average
eyesight may experience tiredness similar to operating a computer screen
or watching television for a long period.
Question:
Are all devices completely waterproof?
Answer:
Unless the device is specially built for this purpose night vision devices
are not suitable for use in moderate to heavy rainfall. INDUSTRIAL
TECHNOLOGIES HOUSE equipment is suitable for use in light rain and humid
conditions.
It will be necessary
to thoroughly clean and dry the device after exposure to conditions of
rain. It is also recommended that the device is stored in a clean and dry
location.
Question:
Why are black spots occasionally visible to the user.
Answer:
There are 2 reasons why this may occur, firstly when the lens and eyepiece
are dirty. You must clean the lens and eyepiece with a recommended
solution.
The second reason may
be that the due to the manufacture of night vision devices the electron
optical image intensifier will almost always have small defects which
leads to the user observing black spots. It is not a problem to have black
spots on the periphery of the image. Each device is thoroughly checked at
our factory and we fully guarantee the quality of our products.
Question:
What type of batteries do you use for night vision devices? How long do
they work?
Answer:
We use quite widely
available batteries as follows: AA (LR-06), AAA (LR-03), 9V. Also we use
for our equipment a new type of lithium battery such as follows: CR-123A
(3V), LR-1 (N-size; 1,2-1,5 V). We recommend using the lithium due to
their longevity. More detailed information about the types of batteries
can be found in “How to choose the battery?”
Also you can to
use a rechargeable accumulator but only the suitable size. The time of
continuous operation of the device with one set of batteries is
approximately 15-30 hours.
Using IR facility you will decrease the time of continuous running up to
30-40%. We always supply our equipment with one set of batteries.
Question:
What is the warranty period for our night vision devices?
Answer:
The warranty period for each unit is 12 months from the date of purchase.
We also guarantee to supply you with spare parts after completion of the
warranty period.
Question:
Is it true that you use a high voltage in your equipment?
Answer:
Yes, it is approximately several thousands volts. But it is completely
safe. However do not attempt to dismantle the equipment as this will
permanently damage the device and will invalidate the warranty.
Question:
Why is there a high-pitched audible sound when the unit is switched on?
Answer:
The sound you can hear is the high voltage transformer unit in operation.
It may be possible to hear this sound from a distance 2-3 meters.
The second and third generation devices do not generate any audible sound.
